integrate and how to use HPE VIBs in vCenter Update Manager

Hello everybody,

I have a question about the vCenter Update Manager. I have successfully integrated the VIBs from HPE (https://vibsdepot.hpe.com/index.xml). When I now create a new host baseline as host extension I get a list of HPE VIBs that I can now tick and then deploy to my hosts.

My problem is that I don't know which VIBs I need?

I deployed my hosts with the custom VMware image from HPE. Now I only want to update all HPE driver and software parts. I don't want to install new ones that I don't need.

How do I only get the VIBs that just need an update and nothing more?

Thanks.

Hi tayfundeger,

thanks, that I already know. But I don't know how I only get these VIBs updated which are already installed. I don't want to add drivers which are not yet present. And exactly that happened as I added such a baseline.

HPE keeps the list of each VIBs they updated in offline bundles at link http://h20565.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=c04430318

I guess the way to achieve this is:

1. List installed VIBs on host with esxcli software vib list

2. Compare the VIBs with custom HPE buldles documentation link given above.

3. Download custom VIBs and create a baseline of chosen ones. Or update manually with esxcli.

The good thing in above given link is, then maintain the information of each VIB and you have download option also.
