for SRM 5.8 planned recovery

Dear all,

I would like to know about SRM5.8 planned recovery, I had a maintenance plan for DC site that I need to shutdown the DC with planned recovery. Could I know which is more better in following two 1) After run the planned recovery, shutdown the DC and than power on the DC and reprotect the DR or 2) After run the planned recovery, reportect the DR and then shutdown the DC. Please let to know me which one is recommended for standard. Thanks you so much.

Your second option make sense.

1-Initiate Planed Migration (For DC maintenance)

2-Shutdown of protected workloads at Primary Site  is part of Recovery Plan workflow

3-Once all work loads are recovered successfully then you can shutdown the other non protected workloads and physical equipment that is beyond the control of SRM Recovery Plan.

4-Once maintenance activity is done of Primary Site and it is up & running, You can start with Re-protect (Recovery Site -> Primary Site)

5-Once is time to move back to original site, Run Planned Migration from "Recovery Site" to "Primary Site" and then re-protected (Primary Site -> Recovery Site)

Hope this helps !

I think you should re-protect your VMs at recovery site only after the maintenance at primary site and when this site is really ready to use again. If you re-protect before the maintenance, after the primary site goes online again, you will need to re-protect again, since you will have a lot of changes at recovery site during the maintenance at primary site.
