Last night I believe our weekly virus scan lock our root account out and the host is showing disconnected. We found this error "Remoted access for esxi local user account "root" has been locked for 900 seconds after 76 failed login attempts" We have tried resetting and clearing the lock on the host but its still disconnected I would appreciate any suggestions.
you can't login at all? if not you need to open a ticket, I don't think there is away to reset it, some people get clever with host profiles I've seen, but that needs a vcenter connection. Did you setup ad authentication, you may be able to logon with a domain account.
I did open a ticket they told me I needed to power off all the guest, reboot the esxi host and power on the guests. that is the only fix they recommended. Then collect logs to see if there are any obvious issues with that host
