Hi semaphore499 and welcome to the community!

Couple of things:

  1. Storage usage includes the vswp file assuming you don’t have a memory reservation set
  2. Check you don’t have a snapshot running on the VM

Kind regards.

thank you for answer  ThompsG

i create new vm name test  for check size  Provisioned Storage larger than allocated disk size

i create disk 40 GB

before start VM  capacity = 40 GB

after start VM  capacity = 44.11  GB

i check don't have snapshot

What should be checked

Hi semaphore499,

That is correct. 40GB for the VMDK + 4GB for the memory swap file as you don’t have a reservation set = ~44GB

Kind regards.

Hi there,

Here is how to set Memory Reservations which will remove the creation of the vswp file: Allocate Memory Resources to a Virtual Machine in the VMware Host Client

Not sure this is the intended use of Memory Reservations so make sure you understand why you are doing it for.

Kind regards.
