database information

I cant find the global.properties file in my virtual center server. even ODBC doest contains the information i want...

Is there any file which contains all the information about my SQL database for virtualcenter. for example which db instance is used by virtual center, which remote database is attached and what is the name of that remote server.  the users name which has been used to attach the database.

My second question, is there any file which contains all the configuration of virtualcenter ? if my virtualcenter dies i can use that file to build/install a new one.

Yep,

to be able to see this file, it must be enabled the "show hidden files" folder option.

Anyway, the file's content maybe be almost empty.

Then, all the relevant odbc information should be under the "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > VMware, Inc > VMware VirtualCenter" registry entry.

I would recommend you to check this, it should be helpful:

Doesn't your ODBC connector should point to the SQL database instance that is used for storing the information about you vCenter environment -

The database information should be located in the file vcdb.properties

File Location -

"C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware VirtualCenter\vcdb.properties"
