dear all
Hi
can use DRS and FT in my environment or if run FT can not use drs ?
BR
You can use vSphere Fault Tolerance with vSphere Distributed Resource Scheduler (DRS) only when the Enhanced vMotion Compatibility (EVC) feature is enabled. See for more information Using Fault Tolerance with DRS.
Yes, this is possible if you use EVC mode.See documentation; VMware vSphere 6.5 Documentation Library
so thanks
but i could not understand this part :
When vSphere Fault Tolerance is used for virtual machines in a cluster that has EVC disabled, the fault tolerant virtual machines are given DRS automation levels of "disabled"
is that means if EVC is disable can not enable FT ?
BR
FT not depend on DRS , but HA should be enabled
DRS will not give you fault tolerance but FT will give you fault tolerance. According to me DRS should always enabled.
When your FT virtual machine failed some how . DRS will check sufficient resource for power on secondary vm.
When vSphere Fault Tolerance is used for virtual machines in a cluster that has EVC disabled, the fault tolerant virtual machines are given DRS automation levels of "disabled" means that if EVC is disabled on the cluster, the FT virtual machines will not be migrated by DRS to other hosts in the cluster in case there are not enough resources on the host running the FT virtual machine.
please imagine i have enough resource on my hosts i want to know can enable DRS without EVC mode and enable FT on my vm ?
BR
Yes you can, if all hosts have same generation CPU.
