When using the "vmware-cmd.pl <options> -l" to list the datastores in an ESXi (v5.1.x) host, I get a path name that looks like this, for example:
/vmfs/volumes/volumes/myVM_dir/my_VM_dir.vmx
instead of the expected
/vmfs/volumes/myVolume/myVM_dir/my_VM_dir.vmx
where "myVolume" is the volume I created. Is this a bug? If so is there a fix?
If not, how can I get the correct volume name via CLI?
Thanks,
Chris
never heard of this issue so far. It seems like a new one. plz post the esxi build (is it a vmware image or a custom image like the HP custom esxi )
Before I give more information, let me add that we have a NetApp SAN where I created the volumes that we subsequently use for our datastores, but to me that shouldn't make a difference correct? I still should see the correct volume information.
it doesnt matter what vendor or what kind of storage it is. what do you see under the summary tab>datastore section of the vsphere client for the host? does it show proper names there? when you go to configuration>storage, does it show proper names there?
when you go to datastore view, does it show proper names there?
The proper name is shown In ALL the cases that you've mentioned.
