What is VM Backup best practice

guys we are little confused and would know best practice of VM backup

secinario as below

Our setup: Esxi host in remote sites these VMs are in local datastore. Backup appliance in DC which support VM snapshot backup

Our Goal: we would like to take VM Backup over WAN (assuming we have sufficient bandwidth) so in case the VM Cruppted we will restore from last backup or if the Host cruppted we will restore the backup in newly configured host

question:

Is VM snapshot enough to restore the VM thoug host will be replaced?

if this will not work which kind of VM backup we should perform, any suggestions ?

Usually backup solutions should handle all stuff with VMs restore.

You can read some materials about VM replication here: VM replication over the WAN - optimizing traffic with Veeam

No. You need of other files to restore vm.

Other options to vm backup are:

VMcom Backup: https://vmcom.com/

Zerto: Zerto Virtual Replication with Offsite Backup | Zerto

Veeam Backup:Veeam Backup & Replication for virtual, physical and cloud

HPE VM Explorer Free:https://www.vladan.fr/hpe-vm-explorer-free-version-vmware-hyper-v

I recommend you take a look at Veeam Backup and Replication. This is a purpose-made VM backup software that just works.
