Hi,

I would on vcenter management page create backup using smb://fileserver/share but after apply start I get this error:

Path not exported by the remote filesystem.

It could be a problem with the server on which the SMB share resides, have you tried to access this share from another server?
There is a bug in some vcenter where you need to access an SMBv1 share, try to enable SMBv1 on the server hosting the share

Note that entering the username in the incorrect format will also result in this error message.

The format you need to use is user@domain

Using username without any domain information solved the problem. Confusing but working.
