Vcenter 5.5 Updating

Hi All,

Have a query around updating the vcenter appliance on 5.5 and updating in general on the process it updates.

I am aware you can  update by visiting the server on https://serverfqdn:5480 > update tab > check for updates.

Query I have is by using this method if you were on say vcenter 5.5 update 1 will this go to the latest update first e.g. update 3 or will it go to the very latest update and patch e.g. update 3f?

Just trying to work out the process of updating so I can read up on release notes/problems etc...

would also be good to know if there are any differences in update methods between 5.5 and 6.5 (as we also have that to look at).

The other way I guess is to download the update manually and deploy as required.

When you check for updates using the online depot, it will return the very latest one for the version you have. If you need to control that and maybe update to an earlier patch level, you'll want to grab the ISO for the patch/update appropriate and mount it to the vCSA.
