VMware vcenter ESXi host (datastore) - storage size decreases unknowingly

Hi all,

My VMware Vcenter ESXi datastore size decreases from 7.3 TB to 7.09 TB unknowingly after I replaced the faulty HDD x1.

My current server is running RAID 5, 600GB HDD x 15 pcs    --> 14 x HDDs configured to RAID 5 and 1 x HDD configured to hot spare.

I try to go to setup utility and check on the existing virtual HDD consistency check but to no avail.

Refresh on the datastore on the VMware ESXi host but still same.

Please kindly advise.

How about Partedutil?

Using the partedUtil command line utility on ESXi and ESX (1036609) | VMware KB

Can you assist to advise based on the screenshot? Any subsequent command to display the content amount in the disk partition? Thanks.

What decreased, the datastore size, or the free disk space on the datastore?

Assuming it's the latter, run http://www.robware.net/rvtools/ to find out whether one, or more VM's have active snapshots. In case you have VM's with thin provisioned virtual disks, you will also want to monitor disk usage of all such VMs, to see whether one of them (actually the guest OS) increases over time.
