VCenter and SQL Express 10Gb Full

Hi

My Vcenter service keeps crashing as SQL express 2008 has reached its 10GB limit. I have tried the usual advice online but it doesn't want to shrink.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Shane

An update on this, i run a report to show disk usage by top tables and it show that dbo.VPX_TASK is using about 7GB. When i open that table and view top 200 rows a lot of them are referencing a file server. can this table be cleaned up?

Thanks for this

I have previously followed this article with no luck and have tried again today but it only shrinks the database by about 100mb or so the database is still about 9.8GB.

have you tried this?

see this for more info -

make sure you take backup of sql db before trying anything.

Thanks for the suggestions

I have tried them but i am only shrinking the database by about 100mb or so.

Does anyone know if its possible to just shrink the VPX_TASK table as this is the problem. Attache dis a screenshot of the table causing an issue.

Is this an option which you can consider in order to reduce the size of the table ...

Reduce the number of days to retain the Tasks data from VC ?

>>>>>      Administration -> vCenter Server Settings -> Database Retention Policy -> Tasks retained for "checkbox"

If yes, then select the checkbox and mention the days for which the tasks need to be retained.

Just a note ..by enabling the option the vCenter server Tasks history would significantly be lost from the DB.
