VCSA update 7.0 to 7U2a not possible

Hi, on VCSA7.0.2.00000 the update to 7.0.2 (U2a) is not possible, the buttons "Stage only" and "Stage and Install" are locked. Is there no fix to do it with the GUI methode? 2 months ago I had the same problem.

Thanks!

Best regards

Hello Werner,

Follow the below steps :

1. Open SSH session to VC.

2. Stop the applmgmt service by running command:
    service-control --stop applmgmt

3. Backup software_update_state.conf file :
    mv /etc/applmgmt/appliance/software_update_state.conf to /var/tmp/software_update_state.conf

4. Remove the file :
    rm software_update_state.conf

5. Start the applmgmt service using command:
    service-control --start applmgmt

6. Confirm if the "Stage only" and "Stage and Install" is available.

If the above steps do not work, you can consider updating your host via command line.

1) Download the 7.0 U2a patch by going to the VMware Patch Download Center and selecting VC from the Select a Product drop-down menu.
2) Attach the VMware-vCenter-Server-Appliance-7.0.2.00100-17920168-patch-FP.iso file to the vCenter Server CD or DVD drive.
3) Log in to the appliance shell as a user with super administrative privileges (for example, root) and run the following commands:
4) To stage the ISO:
     software-packages stage --iso
5) To see the staged content:
     software-packages list --staged
6) To install the staged rpms:
     software-packages install --staged

Refer the following for more details :

NOTE : Consider taking a snapshot of the VCSA VM before making any changes.
