vCenter Server 7.0 Update 3a (7.0.3.00100) rebooted, and now services will not start. When running the command service-control --start --all the following occurs:
Performing start operation on profile: ALL....
Successfully started service vmware-vmon
Service-Control failed. Error: Failed to start services in profile ALL. RC=4, stderr=Read error. ErrCode: 104
I can not find any KBs that reference this error code. I see mention of checking if services are masked as outlined in this KB (https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/50121710). This is 6.7 and was not restored from any backup, but all of the services are indeed masked. If I follow this KB, services do not start and I get the same error.
If I try to start a service manually, get the same error:
Service-Control failed. Error: Error: startType of svc: applmgmt rc : 4 stdout: stderr=Read error. ErrCode: 104
