VCSA 7.0.3

Hi

I have  a 2 Node-VSAN Cluster and wanted to know if can install the vcsa on VSAN Storage and use HA?
Is this Supported?

I´m not quite sure what is the difference at the end of the day by simple doing this (using the vcsa with vsan storage policy) or go with the Wizard for vcenter high availability in vcsa

Thanks

  • VCSA running on vSAN datastore built on stretched cluster
  • VCSA with native HA and running on a local disk of ESXi hosts

Both options require three sites - Primary and Secondary + one for a witness.

Hi,

thank you for your response, but you misunderstood my question.

I can simple run the vcsa on vsan with ha enabled, but also i can configure vcenter ha in vsphere.

what is the difference?

thanks,

With vSphere HA the vCenter VM is restarted, with vCenter HA you actually are running 2 instances of vCenter and if one fails then the other takes over.

Personally I probably would in 99.999% of all cases just use vSphere HA, as it is 10x easier.

thanks for your response,

so if i understand you right, the difference is:

with vSphere HA vCenter migrates and will restart the vcsa
with vCenter HA there´s no restart because there´s a shadow running like fault tolerance?

thanks. br
