VCSA 6.5 unable to join 2012 Active Directory error code [40056]

Idm client exception: Error trying to join AD, error code [40056]

A newly deployed VCSA 6.5 installed and configured however unable to join active directory, result is the above error code [40056]

Am using the Active Directory administrator account like e.g.  administrator@mydomain.dom

any suggestions please?

How are you attempting to join AD? What is the compatibility level of your domain within AD? Show the output of the hostname command on your vCSA, please.

Error code 40056 is reported when a disabled account is used to join to the domain. Can you re-validate the same?

thanks for responding.  this was a gotcha!   the administrator account was disabled in AD.   Once enabled, joined successfully.
