Use a NAS for the DNS service?

First, my understanding is that DNS is required for vCenter Server.  My plan was to create a Windows Server 2012 R2 virtual machine to solely act as a DNS server.  However, I just discovered that the NAS I am using to allow for High Availability (HA) between my two hosts has DNS functionality.  Can I use the NAS for the DNS?  Has anyone done that before?

The NAS is a Synology DS415+.

Thank you for the help!

I checked briefly your NAS and it has a built-in DNS Server (probably BIND based).

So yes, you can use it as DNS Server for the VCenter/ESXi environment. Take in mind that name resolution is very important for VSphere and Vcenter. Register your hosts FQDNs properly and check name resolution is a best practice to have 2 DNS servers in order to provide some fault tolerance.
