Hi All,
I am currently in the process of provisioning a vCenter Server 6 environment with the embedded vPostgres database. VMware guidance says this is suitable for upto 20 hosts /200 virtual machines.
However, as part of capacity planning I need to know if we can in the future upgrade this to full SQL Server. I've looked around and haven't been any specific information on this (aside from general articles on postgreSQL to SQL migration).
I was wondering if anyone has seen any info on this or knows if this is possible? Also, is it supported by VMware/is there a process?
Apologies- if this info is out there already and I have missed it.
Thanks
Unless I'm missing something, there is no supported way to convert/migrate a vCenter database from vPostgres to MSSQL
Hi Richardson,
Thanks for the reply.
This doesn't sound right to me..so if we have a small environment with PostgreSQL that grows to >20 hosts/ 200 virtual machines we cannot do anything about this?
If yes, that's not very good design by VMware as we don't want to provision a full SQL database at day one.
