Upgrade vCenter Server 5.1

Dear,

In upgrade process vCenter Server 5.1 from vCenter Server 4.1. When register vCenter Server with Single Sign On, at Lookup Service URL, in SSO_host_FQDN_or_IP, I type the localhost that I installed vCenter Server 4.1. But I always receive an error message:" Could not contact Lookup Service. Check VM_ssoreg.log in system temporary folder for details".

I don't know this issue. Please give me a suggest to resolve this prolem.

Many thanks.

What version of vCenter 5.1 are you using? I know the early versions had some bugs. I recommend using 5.1.0b

I am using vCenter 5.1.0b. I think vCenter 4.1 doesn't have Single Sign On function, and I must to install vCenter Sign Sign On before upgrading vCenter to 5.1

before upgrading vCenter 4.1 to 5.1, install VMware Single Sign On then Install/Upgrade vCenter Inventory service and then you can upgrade vCenter service and other services like update manager, web client...etc.

I just now posted same in different thread.

Before install vCenter

1, Install SSO & Inventory service

2, please install VMware web client .

3, go to all programes -> Vmware -> Web clients -> web client - admin

4, Login with admin@system-domain

5, Go to the section Administration – Sign-On Discovery

6, Click configuration and then press " +" in identity sources

7. select LDAP , provide the necessary info & click test connection.

8, we have up & down icon in botton, make it LDAP as a top

9, click "save" click , Don't forgot click save icon.

I hope this will help
