To start, I am upgrading my firm's environment from 5.5 to 6.0. Vcenter is currently at 6.0, and we are now applying host profiles/upgrades to the individual esxi blades. one blade in particular, we cannot do anything with because it has a VM on it that no longer exists. Before I started working here something happened that caused 2 individual vms that are the same(one name AD.working, and the other named AD). Both of them are pointing to the same location on the datastore. AD.working is what we need to remove, but we cannot do anything with it. Remove from Inventory and Delete from Disk are greyed out. I tried going into the web client and adding ad.working into a folder to remove from there, and it fails out with "the attempted operation cannot be performed in the current state ("powered on)". I tried going into CLI and there is no vm currently even registered on the blade itself. We can't delete it, power it off, enter maintenance mode on the host, remove host from inventory, nothing. I would appreciate any insight that can be provided. Thank you!
Can you provide a screenshot showing these two VMs as I am struggling to understand the state of these two.
Unfortunately it is in a secure environment, I cannot provide screenshots. I can try to describe any questions you have though
Am I correct in thinking you have two VMs - one named AD.working and the other one named AD?
Are both VMs powered on?
You want to delete the one named AD.working and keep the one named AD?
