Upgrade 5.5 to 6.0

Hi,

I have 3 hosts running on an essentials v6 licence, currently 2 hosts are on v6 and the other is on v5.5, it just so happens that vCentre and SQL are on the v5.5 host.

I would like to update the v5.5 host to v6, can I just do this through the update centre? or do I need to update vCentre first or can i move it to another host?

I've had a search and read a few things, but i couldnt find any documentation about impact on the other 2 hosts if any, I dont have a test environment to try it out on first  either.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

upgrade vCenter first.

migrate it to another server

then put the last host in maintenace mode and upgrate that host.

You can upgrade vCenter to the appliance and stick it on one of your 6.x hosts, but to upgrade the remaining 5.5 host will require you to take an outage on any other VMs running there since your Essentials license doesn't entitle you to vMotion.

I am a little confused as to what exactly you are asking?

are you saying that you would like to update the current 5.5 host to v6.0 to bring the last host in to compliance with the others

or

are you saying that you have a vCenter on that host that needs to be upgraded?
