I am managing my first vmware environment. We are a small company and using the Essentials Package. I have two hosts up with a vCenter Server Appliance 5.5 Build 2063318. I have been looking for a way to update the Appliance for security patches. I have not been able to find how to do this when we do not have an Update Manager Server setup. I downloaded the .iso file but have not been able to find any commands that will allow me to manually install the package. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Note that you need to log in on vCenter Server Appliance Web Console (VAMI) on address: https://vCenterServerIPAddress:5480/ NOT the vSphere Web Client that listen on a different port.
If you're talking about update the vCenter Server Appliance with latest updates, take a look here: VMware KB: Updating VMware vCenter Server Appliance 5.x
When i log into the vCenter Web Client there is no Update tab anywhere to be found. From what i read that comes from The Update Manager which i do not have anywhere.

Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like that may have been what i missed.
