I have a vCenter appliance 5.5 in a Lab, so not a real production system.
In attempting to update from 5.5.0 build 1312298 to 5.5.0 Update 1c we were having issues with Internet connectivity, so it was never able to successfully check for newer versions directly from VMWare. Now, when trying to use the alternate methods of updating via a mounted ISO or the zip file extracted to a http repository, the update process seems to be hung, even after reboots.
When logging in to the web interface and going to the Update tab and Status, the Actions buttons "Check Updates" and "Install Updates" are both greyed out and the Last Check shows as "Last Check: Checking for available updates... "
Changing anything under the Settings tab makes no difference, the Actions buttons remain greyed out and the Last Check status never changes, even with a reboot of the appliance.
Is there any way to clear this ? Is it cached somewhere that I can delete some files ?
Please check whether Re: vCenter Server Appliance checking for update hangs enables the buttons again. Then - before trying the upgrade again - make sure you switched to the proper upgrade method (e.g. update from ISO).

That did it.
Thanks so much.
