Unable to update globally defined virtual machine custom attribute [vCenter 6.7]

When trying to update globally defined virtual machine custom attributes I get:

Permission to perform this operation was denied. NoPermission.message.format

The user is a member of a group which has been assigned to a vCenter Role with these privileges:

Global: Manage custom attributes
Global: Set custom attribute

... and applied to "Global Permissions". I also tried applying the Permission to the Data Center object.

I need:

(1) How to configure the Role and Permissions correctly, or...

(2) Is there a log in vCSA that would indicate the missing privilege?

Hi aenagy,

Do you know what build number you're currently running?

I've had a group of users with working access, that is now no longer working, and they receive the same error, with their permissions applied in the same way.

To what value you want to update your CustomAttr? I seen similar errors (in HTML5) when someone wanted to remove CustomAttr (leave it blank) and it seems more like "once filled - cannot be empty anymore" case there.

My specific issue is that users with granular permissions that were working, for things like VM Configuration changes, or deployments, are receiving the same error.

Seemed to just happen overnight, as there haven't been any upgrades, patches, or changes to the platform.
