Unable to join the target appliance to the Active Directory domain

I migrated vcenter 6.0 to VCSE 6.5 and was given the warning of "Unable to join the target appliance to the Active Directory domain".

The appliance show I'm still connected to the domain and I'm able to add users and groups from the AD identity server but unable to log in as those domain users.

I removed the AD identity server but I'm not able to leave the domain either from the web interface or shell.  From the shell I get a 995 error.

root@vcenter [ ~ ]# /opt/likewise/bin/domainjoin-cli leave

Leaving AD Domain:   (domain name)

Error: ERROR_MEMBER_NOT_IN_GROUP [code 0x00000529]

I have found that the migration added a new name to AD and it shows in the domain query under distinguished name.  It should be vcenter0 not VCENTER-6S30N2B

root@vcenter0 [ ~ ]# /opt/likewise/bin/domainjoin-cli query

Name = vcenter0

Domain = (domain)

Distinguished Name = CN=VCENTER-6S30N2B,CN=Computers,DC=ad,DC=(domain),DC=org
