Unable to find system volume, reconfiguration is not possible

I am trying to P2V a Windows 7 Professional machine.

the process gets to 98% and then fails with this error message.

Unable to find system volume, reconfiguration is not possible

I see that there are a few threads on this but none of them that I can see has an answer for me.

There is reference in the logs to unable to read boot.ini but windows 7 doesn't have this file - several other clues in the logs but none that I can track down with a solution.

Using VMWare vCenter Converter Standalone Client 5.1

trying to p2v Windows 7 (32 bit) Service Pack 1

I would appreciate if there is any help out there

Did you check if the information in KB P2V conversion using VMware Converter fails with the error: Unable to find the system volume, reconf...  helps.

I will try and import into VCenter Server as it suggests and take the steps
