Unable to connect to vCenter using the client

I have a client who is experiencing the following:

When trying to launch a Client to vCenter server we get an error message: vSphere client could not connect to "vCenter-Name".  An unknown error occurred (The server could not interpret the client's request. (The remote server returned an error . (404) Not found.)). Has anyone experienced this before?

VC Version: 6.0 (Windows)

Thanks in advance

‌What  client do you using?  C#client? or Web client?

Please share URL information if you are using Web client?

Are you able to successfully connect using the Web Client?

I would try checking DNS and, as suggested above, trying the Web Client.

You mean it was the DNS issue?

No DNS was not the issue.

Did you install with default ports, 443 etc - if you reboot VCenter does it work then? Also check if your time is off - a bit of skew can cause issues like this.
