In the flash version of the vsphere client , you can do to a virtual machine and choose tags and assign and nothing happens, you have no categories and you can't enter anything at all

You can go under the same location in the html interface you can enter tags but it does not show up in the flash interface

Or better yet how are tags supposed to work and can they be used in both the html version and the flash version and have you noticed any glicthiness when using them in either interfaces

First you have to create a tag category. Did you create one? After that you can assign tags.

I found it and it look some one has created some but when I go to a virtual machine in the flash gui and choose categories it shows nothing as available. It also does not allow me to create a new category in the flash gui but I can create tags in the flash gui, but when I go to a virtual machine to try to assign a tag it won't let me in the flash gui

so it looks like you can create tags in the flash gui but not the html gui and you can create categories in the html gui and not the flash gui. In other words in my version of 6.5 it is not very functional

Just checked in my lab that we can create tags/categories on both Flash and the HTML client -

Create a Tag Category

Create a Tag

vCenter 6.5 will allow you to do both actions from both clients. If that's not working, please state your build and show some screenshots.

That is weird. And you're logged in to both clients with the same user name? Try the HTML5 client in incognito mode to bypass cache and cookies. Any difference?

Yes logged into both interfaces with the same user name and password. I will give it a shot in incognito mode, but yes very glitchy and the user who pointed out the issue to me may already in incognito mode I need to check, they are using a mac I am using a windows 10 pc

I tested this on my end and it works perfectly, so I'm not sure what oddity you're hitting here.

For me too, it works fine on both the clients as mentioned yesterday Smiley Happy Is the behavior same on all the browsers and even with the SSO admin account?

Okay I logged in with the SSO administrator account and that makes it work, it must be permissions issue
