  • 1.  System logs are stored on nonpersistent storage....

I have this message warnings on all my VCenter 5.1 Server Hosts. I tried to change it my changing Syslog.global.logdir  but I get Call" OptionManager.updateValues" ESXHostAdvSettings-798 on Vcenter Server error. I setup a folder on one of my data stores(vm4) called systemlogs. I have tried the following format:

    [vm4]/systemlogs

    vm4/systemlogs

    vm4 /systemlogs

    I keep getting the error.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks.

I assume you are aware of http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2032823

The setting you mentioned may only be needed in case you didn't configure a persistent scratch location (which requires a reboot of the host). Regarding the syntax of the location you need, try adding a blank after the datastore, e.g. [datastore] /systemlogs

Yes I am aware of the KB. That is what I used. I have tried a  blank.
