Hello All,
Newbie VMware admin here hopefully this is an easy question. I have several Microsoft SQL boxes that i need to move the drive that the OS is installed on, they all have RDM's attached when i attempt a storage vmotion it looks like its wanting to move all the drives instead of just one, i have never attempted to move a system with RDM's attached to it but i need to move off this old storage we have in a hurry. Any advice is appriciated thank you!
Thank you,
You can migrate both at the same time, even if you choose different destination.

I will recommend you take a look at the following KB article: VMware KB: Migrating virtual machines with Raw Device Mappings (RDMs) and if you have any additional doubt, let us know.
The thing is i can't take these systems down, they have a zero outage policy. i don't need to storage vmotion the RDM disks just the boot disk which is a VMDK sorry i should have included that information.
On the Migrate Virtual Machine wizard, on the select datastore, click on Advanced and you will have the change to select only your virtual hard disk to migrate.
Thank you for the advice that looks like it will work just one more question, in the advanced storage vmotion it shows the boot disk i want to move but also a configuration file do i need to move both of those at the same time or can i do one after the other.
Thank you!
