Resize Hard Drive

Right now I have a 30gig Hard drive running Windows Server 2008.   I am out of space.  Can I just edit the drive size in Vcenter from 30 to 40?  I know I would have to go into Disk Management and rescan/resize the drive.  I just want to make sure I can do it while its live and no data will get lost.

It is Vsphere 4.1
