Reserving RDM Clarification

Hi all,

We have an MSCS running with a simple config

VM1 running on ESX01 with 5 RDM's

VM2 running on ESX02 with the same RDM's.

After setting this up, we noticed major lag when booting the host or, scanning for storage. I came upon this helpful article:

ESXi/ESX hosts with visibility to RDM LUNs being used by MSCS nodes with RDMs may take a long time t...

Problem is, I'm not sure if I have to run  the following command on one host in the cluster, or, both? or, do I run this command on ALL hosts in the cluster (even those  that do not participate in the cluster...i.e ESX03 and ESX04)

esxcli storage core device setconfig -d naa.xxxxxxxx --perennially-reserved=true

Just looking for clarification, that's all. Thank you kindly,

Seth

‌Hi Seth,

Run this command on all ESXi hosts that have the LUN mounted that you are using as a RDM disk.

Cheers, Matt.
