Question regarding Administrator and VCenter upgrade

I'm currently attempting to upgrade our VCenters from 5.5 to 6.  However the last admin left and did not leave us with the password for the administrator@vsphere.local account, so I'm unable to do the upgrade.  My question is, is the administrator@vsphere.local account tied only to the specific VCenter/VSphere on the server it's hosted on or is it tied to all VCenters in an environment?  I want to make sure that if I change the password on the specific server that I'm trying to upgrade, that it will not affect any other VCenters in our environment.

administrator@vsphere.local is an account created by default in the vsphere.local vSphere SSO domain.

If you have any other vCenter Servers or components joined to the same SSO domain (vsphere.local), then changing the password for administrator@vsphere.local will apply for all servers / components in the same domain.

If you are familiar with Active Directory, think of administrator@vsphere.local as an active directory account, and then having two domain controllers in the same domain. Changing the password on the account applies to anything else in the same domain.

Cheers, Matt.
