Protecting Vcenter VM

Hi All,

I am newbie to vmware and I have the following question:

I have a cluster consisting of 2 Identical Hosts and 2 Identical Storages containing the Vceneter VM and I need to protect the vCenter itself so that if one storage fails or one host fails the Vcenter is moved to the other host or storage and I can still access Vsphere.

I am using Vsphere 6 with standard license

I appreciate your feedback.

If the hosts are under HA enabled cluster, then when the host goes Down HA will restart the VMs on other host. This applies to vcenter as well. Provided the other host should have the storage as shared and the VM files should be accessible.

Thanks Suresh for your Reply I really appreciate it

The Cluster is under HA and this will protect vCenter against host failure but when the  storage containing the VM goes down the Virtual machine goes down.

Is there anyway to protect the Vcenter against storage failure by moving the vm to the other storage? (like fault tolerant??)

This article may help you with the options

VMware Knowledge Base

However, vSphere 6.5 has native VCHA. You may check that option as well . But that is not available with standard license.

Better option is to backup you vCenter server and keep on separate array of storage.....
