Problems with Chrome Version 42.0.2311.90 m

Last week Google stealth updated Chrome from version 41 to 42. Now the Client Integration Plug-in for 5.5 no longer works. I have reset Chrome, re-installed Chrome and re-installed the Integration Plug-in to no avail. Works just fine on IE 11 albeit a bit slower.

Chrome has no facility for rolling back to a previous version and the last version that was available as an offline installation is 36.

Anyone else encountered this problem? Did you find a work around?

(I guess that will teach me to disable automatic Google updates)

Turns out the answer is in this post: Vsphere webclient communicator plug-in broken in chrome 42 windows 7 SOLUTION

You have to enable NPAPI, which appears to have been set to disabled with release 42.

I also had to uninstall and re-install the integration package, but that might be I ended up re-installing it after I removed chrome.
