This a known issue in 5.1 have a look at the below article

VMware KB: Search fails and Hardware Health and Health Status plug-ins are disabled in the vSphere C...

To verify this, check if the same working from the vCenter server itself

Hi AT10,

I have tried to modified server.xml then tried again in Windows XP, still failure.....

But succeeded to show in Windows 8 (even before modify server.xml).

Thus, is this method "MUST" fix the problem or just "TRY" to fix ??

Thanks

The fix is based on best effort basis. This may not work. As VMware recommends you can upgrade the client OS or use your vCenter OS to collect/check the performance related stuffs.

I am not sure about windows 7. This may also happen due to IE settings. Add the vCenter server ip in the "Trusted site" list in the IE setting. Do this on Windows 7 machine

I have tried, not work. But before made this setting, I found some Windows 7 can shown but some can't

Also some Win7 with IE9 is ok, but some can't. Then tried to upgrade IE10 then ok, but failed after downgraded back to IE9

Looks like some settings issue in IE9 which is installed in Windows 7 which is blocking. Try below steps

Alternatively, try adding the IP address 127.0.0.1 to the trusted sites list in Internet Explorer:

  1. Start Internet Explorer.
  2. Click Tools > Internet Option.
  3. Click the Security tab.
  4. Click Trusted Sites and then click Sites.
  5. Type 127.0.0.1 in the Add this website to the zones textbox.
  6. Click Add.
  7. Click Close.
  8. Click OK.
