    Hi,

We need to patch our VMware environment. Currently we have 2x PSC and 2x vCenter servers in two datacenters (DR and Primary) using one SSO domain. Also SQL servers are separate servers for each vCenter. Our vCenter servers are 6.0 Update 3D versions and our plan is to update them to Update 3J. Can someone confirm these steps are ok:

    - backup both PSC server (VM full backup and snapshots)

    - backup both vCenter servers (VM full backup and snapshots)

    - full backup od SQL DB on both SQL servers

    - upgrade DR PSC via ISO file downloaded from VMware site

    - upgrade Primary PSC via ISO file downloaded from VMware site

    - upgrade DR vCenter server via ISO file downloaded from VMware site

    - upgrade Primary vCenter server via ISO file downloaded from VMware site

Since we are using SRM, vSphere replication servers and Operations Manager do we need to shut them down prior to patching PSC and VC? Anything else to consider? Hosts and VM's should run without any issue I guess?

    Thank you.

    Petar.

    It looks good.

You can shutdown SRM and vROPS while upgrading. Or not but it will send you a lot of errors that vCenter is unavailable.

Remember to do a backup of SQL,vCenter and PSC from the the same time. The best option is to power off all and do a backup and snapshots.

And check release notes for known issue. Maybe you will find something interesting for your environment.

Steps in previous post are correct. We managed to patch all our infrastructure servers without any issue. After mounting ISO and starting setup it was automatically detected as an upgrade so it was basically next, next.

    Thank you.
