HI,
i need to calculate the chargeback (costs) for a vm per day or month (not only the basis cost, the running costs too. The best were be a tool that running all the time for reporting.
VMWare Chargeback ist out of life for normal customers.
Is out there another tool that cann calculatre the tco and roi and runnign costs?
How that making big companies the cost calculation ?
Greetings.
Either vRealize Business for Cloud (but I don't like the tool) or you can use vRealize Operations Manager for it since it has an integrated cost calculation.
I know some major service providers who have programmed the usage metering and cost calculation themselves because VMware's existing solutions are too inflexible.
We also get all usage data and other billing data directly from the vCloud Director, NSX Manager, vRealize Automation and vCenter APIs, collect and store this data in databases and perform our own cost calculation based on our price book and business models.

So.... there is NO tool that can perform per Guest cost analysis for charge-backs without having ACCESS to VRealize?
I am able to get TCO but that throws in all the others costs ad not a per server cost for migration ALONE.
Instead of vRealize Business for Cloud you can also take a look at the vRealize Operations Tenant App. It is relatively flexible when it comes to pricing policies and you can see the cost of individual vApps/VMs. But this requires a working vRealize Operations installation.
