Need help with Cold Clone and SCSI driver

I am trying to cold clone an HP Proliant DL360 G6 but apparently I need a driver for the array controller. Its a P410i. Has anyone gone through this process before that can point me in the direction of the driver and how to get it loaded so i can attempt a cold clone?

Any reason for why you're trying using Cold Clone instead of Hot Clone ?

You should be able to load the SmartArray driver from e.g. a Floppy Disk after hitting the F6 key while booting the ColdClone CD.

To get the driver go to http://www8.hp.com/us/en/drivers.html, enter P410 in the search box, click one of the results and select Microsoft Windows Server 2003 --> Driver - Storage Controller. Download cp011324.exe and double-click it to extract the files.

Yes, because this server contains databases and I would prefer to do a cold clone to ensure integrity

This is basically what I have been doing, it just doesn't seem to like the driver. I have tried 3 different drivers including this one and none seem to work.

If you follow the vCenter Converter Best Practices you will ensure the integrity of your server, for example:

Run the System Configuration Utility(msconfig) on the source server to reduce the number of services and applications running on startup, all software except for All Microsoft Services and VMware Converter Service. For more information, see Using the Windows System Configuration utility (1004010).

Of course, if your database is Microsoft SQL Server you must change the startup of MSSQL services to disabled too.... and after disable all services, reboot the server and when the server boots up the database will be in stopped state and this way you can P2V without lose any data of your database.

Here is the KB article with some another best practices: Best practices for using and troubleshooting VMware Converter (1004588)
