Need help-virtual machine extremely slow

Hello,

My physical machine is Windows 10 laptop,  64 bit, 8GB ram. 1.9 GHZ processor, over 300GB free on my hard drive.  I am running VMware player.

The virtual machine is XP Pro, 2GB memory allocated, 1 processor, 12GB hard disk, NAT.  The performance is terrible, basically unusable.  Any suggestions how I can make this a usable VM?

In case you are using BitDefender 2017, AVG or Avast, either of these 3 can cause VMs to run slow due to their virtualization features.

For Bitdefender 2017, seems like there is no way to disable that feature but to uninstall and go back to an earlier version.

For AVG or Avast, have a look at this thread  XP VM suddenly slow, Win 7 fine on how to disable that feature on them.
