Migrating VCenter 6 based on Windows to VCSA 6.0

I am receiving conflicting information on the ability to use the new VCSA migration tool, if migrating from an existing Windows based VCenter 6.0 environment to a VCenter 6.0 environment based on the VCenter Appliance. I have read that the migration tool (vCenter Server 6.0 Update 2M) only migrates VCenter 5.5 to VCSA and then I read some other documentation that states any VCenter 5.5 or higher can be migrated to VCSA 6.0 using the migration tool.  Can I use the tool to migrate a Windows based VCenter 6.0 environment to an appliance based 6.0 environment? I am not referring in any way to VCenter 6.5

Hi,

You can't migrate a Windows based vCenter 6.0 environment to an appliance based 6.0 environment. The supported path is VMware vCenter Server 6.0 Update 2m migrates vCenter Server Windows 5.5 Update 3d or earlier.

Thanks!

I have a similar question. Is there to be no migration support from 6.0 Win vCenter to the 6.0 VCSA or is it in the works and just not available yet? It would seem a 6.0->6.0 migration would perhaps be reasonably straightforward given they are at the same schema revision but maybe not.

Just wondering if we are being encouraged to head the 6.5 VCSA path instead.

Thanks in advance for any insight,
