Migrating Cluster to Different vCenter

Was migrating a cluster from one vCenter to another vCenter. Before starting Migration I disabled HA and DRS. For Migration all I did is

  • Create new cluster on destination VC
  • Disabled HA and DRS
  • Add the esxi to the newly creted cluster
  • Migrate VM's to folders
  • Set permissions
  • Create SDRS Cluster and move Data stores
  • Enable HA and DRS

on my old VC I had 90 VM's and on my new VC I only have 68.

Do I need to re-register all  VM's that are on the esxi's ?  -- This was not done as a part of migration

Did you removed the hosts from the old vCenter before add them on the new vCenter? And you don't need to re-register the virtual machines on the new vCenter, just add the host to the new vCenter and all registered virtual machines on that hosts will be added to the vCenter also.

Hi Rick,

Yes, I disconnected Esxi's from old vCenter and added to the new one, But I did not remove them from inventory.
