    Hi there

I'm actually preparing me for a vCenter migration and have some questions.

I'm migrating an esxi 5.5 cluster from one vCenter to another one. The esxi server are configured with distributed switch for VM networks....

now i would like to know if i can export the dvswitch configuration and import it to the new vcenter and then disconnect and reconnect the esxi server to the new vcenter?

in this is kb article is also explained that you have to move all vms back to a standard switch: VMware KB:    Moving an ESX/ESXi host with vDS from one vCenter Server to another

do I really have to move the vms first to an standard switch or is this just for security purpose? because I will restore the actual dvswitch configuration to the new vcenter so it would stay the same dvswitch configuration?

    maybe can somebody help me...

    hi there

I just wanted to tell you that you HAVE to migrate first all portgroups from the dvswitch to the standard switch!

if you add the esxi with the distributed switch, the dvswitch is gone and the vms have no more network connection :smileyhappy:
