MAX VMs in a Datastore : vsphere 5.5 (HA not configured.)

Hi All,

I have a vcenter 5.1 where HA is not configured. I want to know that what is the max no of vms in a  datastore (Powered on and powered off both) .

As this vcenter is not less with HA, does the default no which is 2048 as per vsphere maximums will be the same or not.

in vmware maximum gudie i found the below.

Powered-on virtual machine config files per datastore in an HA cluster : 2048  (Without HA what is the No. ?)

Thanks.

Hi,

Max. limit of 2048 running VMs applies also for VMFS5 filesystem.

For powered off VMs I think you can take vCenter and cluster numbers so 15000 registered VMs and 4000 VMs in cluster...

Before we debate on the maximum, will you actually put so many machines, independent of whether HA is turned on or not?
