Licensing question

Hello,

I need to deploy a cost effective basic set up of two hosts (1 physical CPU each) and provide the following capabilities:

  • Clustering
  • vMotion
  • High Availability (HA)
  • Distributed vSwitches.
  • Live backups
  • Mount iSCSI volumes.

Which license do you recommend from below taking into account the lowest cost but meeting the above requirements:

  • 1 x VMware vSphere Essentials Plus Kit.

OR:

  • 2 x VMware vSphere Standard: (1 license for each server CPU)
  • 1 x VMware vCenter Server Foundation.

Thanks in advance.

Hello MRAntonio,

Yes, these licenses would be valid.

Check and read the link below:

Rick

If you must have a vDS, then Enterprise Plus and nothing short it must be.

Hello Daphnisov,

If I take the distributed vSwitches off from the equation and I just use standard switches with the same labels so vMotion can work, would those licenses be valid?

Regards.
