LAN connection of VM is being inactive after 1-2 days.
To get the LAN connection active again, we do Disable/re-Enable LAN adapter in guest OS but the issue re-occurs after 1-2 days..
We have tried adding new Network Adapter and deleting the older one but no luck at all.
This problem is only with specific VM not with other VMs.
Any clue guys?
I have seen this issue with E1000 network adapters, and was fixed by changing network adapter to VMXNET3. You can check by replacing adapter to VMXNET3 unless you have any specific requirements to use E1000 and then you can monitor it.
Please elaborate with more details :
ESXI version ?
VM Hardware Version ?
Type of Network Adapter ?
Guest OS ?
When you say 'Inactive', which state/parameter you are checking ?
Hello,
My responses:
ESXI version ?
VMware ESXi, 6.0.0, 5251623
VM Hardware Version ?
(VM version 11)
Type of Network Adapter ?
E1000
Guest OS ?
Windows Server 2012 R2 Datacenter
When you say 'Inactive', which state/parameter you are checking ?
I am checking the Ethernet state (Local Area Network Connection, IPv4). I am disabling the ethernet and enabling it back (from Run>ncpa.cpl), it works well but after some days its not responding again..
Thanks

Thanks for this catch..
I will change it and monitor it for next 3-4 days..
Additionally, I have some other VMs as well where I have E1000 adapter type but I never observed such issues with those VMs.
Thanks,
If you find its still not working after changing vmnic to VMXNET3, then check the tools and hardware version of other VMs which are working fine with E1000. Make sure you have exact same version of tools and hardware on this problematic VM.
