LACP connection iSCSI

Hello all

we are planning to install a storage and create iscsi luns on the vcenter.

i am planning to create an LACP with 2 ports on the storage and connect it to the switch.

how can i make a LACP on the vcenter with 2 nics? and also how can i combine 2 iscsi software initiators to work as one?

is it possbile to have active active connection?

Thanks

The short answer is that "you're doing it wrong".

It's really best noone tries to answer the "how do I setup LACP" question, because what you should be using with iSCSI is multipathing. Read this article on how to set it up:

http://virtualgeek.typepad.com/virtual_geek/2009/09/a-multivendor-post-on-using-iscsi-with-vmware-vs...

Note step 3 can now be done in the GUI.

multipathing i think is a protocol for no seing the same disk twice.

LACP is link aggregation.

What i want is 2 have to NICS working as a/a in both sides and through that vswitch to pass the iSCSI protocol...

is that possible?

Thanks

I'm sure someone will eventually chime in telling you how to setup LACP - and they will be doing this question a disservice.

I can only say again that you are doing it wrong.

The read multipath advice you've been given.

This document shoudl help - http://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=100404...

But please pay special attention to this note:

Note: One IP to one IP connections over multiple NICs is not supported. (Host A one connection session to Host B uses only one NIC).

This is due to the way the ESXi host handles load balancing -
