Hello, I am new to this community and hope I'm putting this question in the right place.
I am accessing Windows VMs from VCenter using the web console.
When I am connected to the local network that the ESXi hosts reside on, I can use the web console as expected.
When I am connected to the network remotely via VPN, when I initiate a web console session, the keyboard input does not work and I cannot log into Windows (not without using the on-screen keyboard). Yes I'm clicking in the password field to make sure I'm in the field. The be more specific, the backspace key and the tab key seem to work, and the number keys do something but not what you'd expect, but none of the other keys seems to work. If I log into the machine using the on-screen keyboard, I still have no keyboard input ( no letters anyways).
So this is a networking/firewall issue I take it, since the problem does not occur when I'm on the local network. Has anyone seen this before? Would there be a firewall port in the router I'm coming in through to open up? I saw something about the console using port 902 but haven't had a chance to try opening that port in router yet (I'm not on-site now).
I also have this same issue! There shouldn't be any reason why virtualization software would let you open a console to a VM, but NOT allow the keyboard to work... Incredibly basic functionality on what is supposed to be the 'gold standard' of virtualization software!
I am assuming this was never resolved? I am actually going thru the same issue. Trying to identify what the fix is.
