Yes, they raise the limits when using Enterprise Plus licensing. So 8 vCPU VM is now possible.

The number of FT enabled VMs is limited and depends on the given/needed network bandwidth, but can increased by changing an advanced parameter.

You can have 8 virtual CPUs per virtual machine.

Refer the latest configuration maximum guide for more details.

Previously i saw that but it is strange for me

please see that chart :

Virtual CPU per host = 8

1- now is that means i can just run maximum one vm with 8vcpu on an esxi host ?

It is my understanding that the total number of vCPUs for FT VMs on a host is limited to 8, so yes your supposition is correct that you can can have one of the following:

  • 1 VM with 8 vCPUs
  • 2 VMs with 4 vCPUs
  • 4 VMs with 2 vCPUs

You could have combinations too.

E.g.:

  • 1 VM with 4 vCPUs and 2 VMs with 2 vCPUs
  • 1 VM with 4 vCPUs, 1 VM with 2 vCPUs and 2 VMs with 1 vCPU

The practical limits are set by:

  • das.maxftvmsperhost which defaults to 4
  • das.maxftvcpusperhost which defaults to 8

das.maxftvcpusperhost cannot be increased, because it is limited by license conditions, but you might elect to reduce it, to prevent a host from being loaded to much.

das.maxftvmsperhost can be increased, but is not recommended.
