Is it possible to set default disk format to something other than Lazy Zeroed?

By default Thick Provisioned Lazy Zeroed disk format is enabled in vSphere 5.0.  Our organization has been 'experimenting' with disk reclamation on storage array but that does require Thick Provisioned Eager Zeroed format to be used; since we have number of admins, we ran into procedural issue of not everyone assigning Eager disks (since it requires additional manual step) which is causing additional manual work to be done of converting Lazy VDMKs to Eager; just curious if anyone knows how to set Thick Provisioned Eager Zeroed format to be default disk format (it being on Datacenter level, cluster or even host).  Any tips or workaround comments would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure there is a way to change the default in the New VM creation. One option is if you create templates then the default option will be to deploy with the same format the template uses, so if you used eager zeroed on that template then the child would also be eager zeroed by default.

You could set permissions so the other admins can only deploy from template instead of creating a new VM.
